🌍 Supporting Asylum Seekers in Somerset 🤝

At Diversity Voice, we are proud to be a beacon of hope and support for asylum seekers in Somerset County. Our dedicated team is committed to providing assistance, guidance, and advocacy to those who have sought refuge in our community. 💙

Asylum seekers often face unimaginable challenges and hardships, forced to leave their homes and loved ones behind in search of safety and protection. We firmly believe that every individual deserves compassion, respect, and a chance to rebuild their lives.

Our mission is to ensure that asylum seekers in Somerset are welcomed, supported, and empowered to navigate the complex asylum process. Through our range of services, we offer practical support, language assistance, and cultural integration programs tailored to their unique needs.

🤲 Here’s how we support asylum seekers in Somerset:

1️⃣ Information and Advice: We provide accurate and up-to-date information on the asylum process, helping individuals understand their rights and responsibilities.

2️⃣ Language Support: Our team of multilingual volunteers offers language support, interpretation, and translation services to facilitate effective communication.

3️⃣ Practical Assistance: We assist asylum seekers with essential needs such as mental health, learning English language, getting familiar with the local traditions and culture, helping them build a stable foundation for their future.

4️⃣ Emotional Well-being: We recognize the importance of mental health and emotional well-being. Our counselors offer support, counseling, and referral services to help individuals cope with the challenges they may face.

5️⃣ Community Integration: We organize cultural exchange events, workshops, and training sessions to foster community integration, promote understanding, and celebrate diversity.

🌟 Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive environment where asylum seekers can rebuild their lives and contribute to our diverse community.

But we cannot do it alone! We rely on the generous support of individuals like you. If you would like to get involved, whether through volunteering, donations, or spreading awareness, please reach out to us. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of asylum seekers in Somerset. 🙏

Join us in our mission to promote unity, compassion, and diversity. Together, we can create a brighter future for all. 🌈

Wellbeing Session

For those who were not able to attend the Mental Health and Wellbeing session please find attached a link to the recording of the presentation in case this is useful. We met two lovely Ukrainian therapists (who are refugees themselves) and we were delighted to also have Mind, Watch, Second Step, NHS Talking therapists in attendance. We summarised the Open Mental Health Alliance service and ensured attendees knew where to go for information and support. This was presented in both English and Ukrainian. Do please come back to us if you have any questions. We have permission from all attendees to share the recording.
