Link Worker

Language support services are delivered for more than 12 years. This service is funded by Somerset County Council (SCC) with contributions made by participating schools. We are able to support all services run by SCC for children and young people. With our long experience of working with schools and parents we are able to help them support their children's education. We also support Somerset Children's Social Care through translation, interpreting and training services.

Early Years Support Services

We offer a service funded by Somerset County Council, through the Dedicated Schools Grant, providing support for early years providers, children and parents. We are based in Somerset and work closely with local authorities, other voluntary sector organisations and education providers. We are able to support early years providers in the whole of Somerset.

Translation and Interpreting

The CIO Diversity Voice is a local, professional and accessible service to individuals and organisations across Somerset and the South West.  We provide Translation and Interpretation services for individuals and organisations across Somerset, North Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Devon. Many of our clients have benefitted from our services which are often spread through word of mouth advertising.

Lingo-Link

Through Lingo Link organised by the Diversity Voice you can gain new experience and find new friends. Lingo Link puts you in touch with a newcomer to the UK in your local area and arranges the first meeting for you. You have the opportunity to be a guide for someone who don't speak the language fluently and don't fully understand the local culture. You can learn a bit about his language and customs as well. So, if there is a particular language or country that you're interested in, please get in touch and we'll try and arrange for you to meet with a suitable Lingo Link partner.

Community Language Classes

Diversity Voice offers community-based English language lessons. We welcome people of all nationalities. Our teachers are qualified and have specialist experience in delivering lessons in English as a second language. All are English native speakers. Some of our teachers have worked or spent time in other countries, so they understand the difficulties you face. On our courses, you'll learn language skills as well as gain an understanding of English culture and tradition.

Advice on Employment

Diversity Voice currently does not receive funding for this work. Therefore we have to charge small fee of £20 per hour for advice or we can recommend ACAS for further advise.
