South West Migration Conference

On Thursday 8th March 2018 the South West Strategic Migration Partnership held a conference in Taunton. Resettlement and Reconnecting Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the South West.

The conference was aimed at colleagues that work across all the areas of asylum and migration.
There were several speakers ranging from 2 successful stories from Asylum seekers who have been resettled in the UK, dedicated workers from agencies and from the Home Office.

The attendees came from County Councils, many organisations and volunteers across the South West who all work together in successfully resettling Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the UK.

In the workshop sessions people were able to discuss what challenges they are experiencing and ways to overcome them. Also, what is needed to make the resettlement process easier for everyone involved.

What was overwhelmingly clear from the conference was how dedicated and committed everyone is in helping these vulnerable people settle into their new lives and to carry on the support for as long as it is needed.

Diversity Voice have been working with Asylum Seekers and Refugee children in schools and has purchased software in Arabic language for the iPad to support our work.
